Shall We Date My Fairy Tales Paid Version Thumbelina Review
I don't care that I'm all grown up! I beloved this motion-picture show!
So help me, this is the cutest thing I've ever seen! I simply love this film. First time I saw information technology, I went with my vii year old brother, and was adamant to hate it - simply, well, I just couldn't. It's soooo cute, and the songs are so good, and the story is so well told - it's just incommunicable not to like information technology.
The first thing that I really like about this film is that it (dissimilar, oh so many Disney films) is really very loyal to the original fairy tale by H.C. Andersen. They've added a few things, and inverse a few details, but all of the things they inverse I had to agree with (hey, why not let Thumbelina and the Prince meet at the beginning? It makes more sense for them to already exist in love. And what's wrong with making the Fieldmouse a girl? It's Carol Channing!) This is very true to the original story - so much more than than Disney's THE Little MERMAID (which was supposedly based off another H.C. Andersen tale - merely you lot'd never guess it).
The blitheness is practiced, it's not the best, merely it'southward fine. The real star of this film is the music. A beautiful score past Barry Manilow helped out by fabulous phonation work. The wonderful Jodi Benson heads the cast (she was also the voice of Ariel in THE Little MERMAID) and she is delightful as Thumbelina. I've been lucky enough to come across Ms. Benson and I have to say, she is simply the sweetest person you could ever hope to know. She'southward got a wonderful, child-like speaking vocalism, and a glorious singing voice - simply the perfect choice for the lead. She's joined in the cast by Gilbert Gottfried, Barbara Cook, Carol Channing, and (another voice talent from THE LITTLE MERMAID) Kenneth Mars.
This film is just beautifully done. Information technology'due south faithful to the original, it'south lovely to see, and has a marvelous soundtrack. I don't care that I'k all grown upwardly - this is a picture I tin can't aid simply dearest.

This is adorable! Very underrated!
This is a triumph for Don Bluth! I really enjoyed it. The songs are sweetness, & memorable. Jodie Benson (Ariel, The Footling Mermaid) plays the title function, & she has such a great voice. I would recommend this movie to any family who is stuck in the Disney collection simply rut. Give Thumbelina a chance!

At final - a nice, gentle movie from the recent days for very young age-groups. I'm xvi (17 in 5 months) but I do love information technology very much!
Well, the animation isn't exactly stunning, I'll hold with that, and the production team certainly picked a rather lightheaded name from the fairy prince - CORNELIOUS! What a silly name! And also it does go rather weak every bit far as sentiment goes, merely above all, "Thumbelina" is just lovely! BEAUTIFUL. I but kind of think that those gold sparkles that trail behinds the fairies is actually quite unique. Not many cartoon films accept those kinds of effects at all, not these days at to the lowest degree. Heed you, "Anastasia" had the same kind of effects (the 1997-drawing, I mean) which may be considered in the 1990s and 2000s (our present time-period in fashion) a footling one-time because "Pinocchio" had PLENTY of that only at to the lowest degree "Anastasia" received Big respect and honour from many audiences worldwide. This pic very rarely receives respect and honor. Far too underrated! Only because information technology'due south all soft and sometimes soothing, with pleasant lilliputian songs, warmhearted graphic symbol and a Disney princess that, for the first time in this era, is all kind and forgiving and not feisty. Come on! Dearest It! See what I see in information technology! People (including my sister) find the grey and white bird with the big hat annoying. I'll acknowledge that his jokes are rubbish but I wouldn't say he'southward annoying. He's got a good center and he helps Thumbelina through hard times and he's a good bird - they're ALL good characters and Thumbelina's mother! Well she is the most warm, tender, caring, considerate mother I've always seen in a drawing film! She loves Thumbelina so much and she ever makes sure she's abroad from harm! That horrible toad certainly proved her wrong, though, didn't he? At that place are three characters I hate and find irritating, apart from the toad; the Beetle, who is terribly shallow. First he flies Thumbelina up to a tree-top making her call back he'd assistance her find her mother's cottage but instead he drags her off to a disco for INSECTS! He dresses her up to be the belle of the brawl but when he dances with her, Thumbelina's wearing apparel fall off and there she is stood in a red pair of trousers and a ruby-red blouse. He humiliates her, shouts, "SHE'S UGLY!" to all who attend that ball and then feels proud of himself! Lucky, the bird came to comfort her when he saw her sobbing her centre out. Then, there'due south Miss Fieldmouse; I know she took Thumbelina in when she nearly froze to death and served her some food and kept her warm, but her nature is unpleasant. She tells a very shocked, heartbroken Thumbelina her beau, the fairy prince died in the snow and says "who cares? Y'all're just young, my dear! At that place are many more men to come!" Hah! Nothing like beingness sympathetic, eh? Final of all, in that location'southward the fatty old serial-proposer Mr Mole. He is merely SO pompous! Thumbelina is sad as sad can be near her ane truthful dearest being expressionless and not ever seeing her mother again and there he is! (The mole, I mean) munching away at his corn-cakes as if Thumbelina is his retainer. Miss Fieldmouse even insists Thumbelina marries that pompous, over-sized twit and, what's worse, she won't have "no" for an answer! So our poor trivial heroine DOES "marry the mole!" It's such a sad story, although information technology's comforting with it! Only the odd 1 low point to this pic. Don't heed to those dreary-natured critics! They're WRONG! It's absolutely lovely!

Thumbelina is Thumbs Upward
This is a movie that grows on me. When first getting a copy, made little mark, but after my iii yr quondam girl started requested this repeatedly several times a day, I've found the songs and animation to have grown on me. It has much of the enchantment and dreamy themes that Disney studios seem only to reach during those revitalized golden years of early xc's at Disney. But I trust my girl'due south taste, and I accept a new plant beloved now in this 10 yr old subconscious treasure myself.
Jodi Benson has a cute voice and information technology may be this is on of the leading attributes that captures attention the same mode her Mermaid performance equally Ariel has done.
I believe the test of a expert film, is ane that captures year center and y'all tin can call you're ain, and this one has found a way to do that.

Brilliant!!!!!
I totally disagree which Pynchov. How dare he say the picture was terrible. The style he describes it makes it sound like a horror movie. This pic was absolutely brilliant. It was fun, enjoyable, enchanting and had some memorable characters. I have had the video for years and I would withal watch information technology. The songs in the movie were inspiring and the scenes were picture-perfect. It was naught similar that totally rubbish 2003 Thumbelina and Tom Thumb film. People must see the 1994 version!!!!! I recollect the frog characters were excellent and some of the songs they came out with were really funny. The beetle ball was a corking scene and looked really unusual. The scenes were beautiful. Full of luscious green fields and beautiful flowers, information technology was so inspiring! One of the best characters was Jacquimo! I loved his emphasis!! Thumbelina and Cornelius were the perfect fairy tale couple in a perfect fairy-tale moving-picture show.

A lot amend than what people say!
I grew up watching Pebble and the Penguin and Anastasia. I was introduced to this about a month ago, I watched it, and I was actually impressed. It is non as adept equally the above titles, but I can proper name a lot worse animated films, believe me, the Hole-and-corner of NIMH sequel anyone?! The film is flawed, but on the whole it is a fun sweet film for kids. The animation is very good, but is a picayune apartment in some places. Simply the animation sequence in "Permit me be your wings" is breathtaking. Speaking of the songs, they aren't bad at all. They are very pleasant, and beautifully orchestrated with lovely tunes even if some of the lyrics were hard to understand. The incidental music was lovely besides. The best aspect was the story. It stayed close to the original fairytale, while adding a niggling bit on. All of the characters are very much the same, and none of the essence is lost, salve for some slow scenes in the middle half. The characterisations are fine. Jodi Benson is a very talented singing actress, and she had the best song of the pic, "Let me be your Wings", which was stunning audibly and artistically, and she does exercise a good job as Thumbelina. People find Thumbelina abrasive and patronising, I find her cute and pretty and she means well. Cornelius was a lilliputian bland, just I warmed to him. The toads were funny, especially during that really fast Spanish song. My favourite character is Jaquimo, what a bang-up accent, and Thumbelina's mother is a warm and loving grapheme and provides the film's nigh touching moment in the reprise of "Shortly"! Other vocalisation actors are Gilbert Gottfried, John Hurt and Carol Channing. All in all, a pleasant blitheness, that is misunderstood. 7/10. Bethany Cox

Enjoyable
Thumbalina. This is a skilful family moving picture. The story is fun and sweet, the characters are memorable and lovable and the music is good ("Let me be your wings" and "Once in that location was the sun" are particularly memorable). Thumbalina is a skilful family movie, the kids will honey it and the parent'due south will savour it equally well. This is definitely a moving picture to see if you want to be reminded of 3 things: "true love conquers all", "follow your centre", and "nada is impossible". Those are not the only life lessons it discreetly teaches, many others are buried deeply in it, similar all great fairy tales. Don't come across it if you want bright animation or picture show perfection, see it if you want a "feel good" fairytale that. I would give this movie 7 stars out of 10.

Ooooooooh, my caput :(
I went to the shop the other day and was looking through the v dollar bin and found Thumbelina, it'southward Disney, and then I figured I would give it a look. Admitingly, I am under that Disney truck, about 98% of Disney movies I absolutely adore and take quite a few in my favorite movie category, so why not just take the gamble on Thumbelina? I had absolutely no clue that this was possibly the most insulting movie of all time. This is the film that Enchanted also had a good time making fun of, see at a fourth dimension when Trivial Mermaid, Aladdin, and Beauty and the Beast were very popular with the songs, characters, story lines, and princesses, Thumbelina is a very blatant rip off of every Disney archetype that was pop at the time.
A lonely woman who's biological clock is ticking and so she cheats by getting a magic flower. One twenty-four hours, a proficient witch gives her a barley corn to plant, and the next day the flower blooms, revealing a little daughter "no bigger than her thumb". The woman names the girl Thumbelina. Thumbelina spends fourth dimension with her mother'south farm animals, only is worried that there is no one effectually of her ain size. One night her mother tells her a story about fairies. Afterward being put to bed, Thumbelina imagines that anytime she'll be able to find someone to love. Oh, hum, will someone ever honey this thimble size girl? Yes! Prince Cornelius of the Fairies flies by her windowsill and is enchanted by her, a la Sleeping Beauty. Just by the audio of her voice he knows she'due south the 1, a la Little Mermaid. The two take a ride on Cornelius' Bumble Bee, during which they fall in dear, a la Aladdin. During this ride, a toad named Grundel sees Thumbelina and declares to his mother Mrs. Toad that he loves her. Pretty much everyone wants Thumbelina. Thumbelina goes to slumber in her walnut bed, and is kidnapped by Mrs. Toad. Mrs. Toad declares that Thumbelina will join their family unit singing group. Thumbelina's cries for help are heard past Jacquimo, who helps her complimentary of the lily-pad and encourages her to follow her eye and observe her way home to her mother. Despite the fact he's a bird, he doesn't offer to fly her dwelling, then she's going to have to figure her ain manner home I approximate. Just equally Thumbelina would say "Information technology'due south incommunicable".
Believe me in that location are more just point blatant rip off'south of good Disney movies, merely I tin't get into all details. Simply seriously this movie is just pathetic, none of the characters are lovable, I can't tell you how much I simply wanted to step on Thumbelina. This is the movie that I'd turn down to testify a girl because to exist honest, it's kind of sexist. Thumbelina lets there be pelting on her happy parade because ONE bug calls her ugly, she basically says she'll die without her boyfriend, she pretty much has nothing to offer simply her looks and gets slapped on the butt and just accepts information technology. This is simply a really bad pic, I have such a headache from banging my head confronting the wall five 1000000 times, but at least I have a new DVD case to help balance my couch.

I love this motion picture!!
E'er since I first saw this movie I have loved it. It grabbed hold of my imagination. It besides follows very close to the original story which is more than I can say for several other books made to movies. It has also captivated the imagination of my children. They will sit down through this movie and then talk about it all day. They even pretend to be the characters. This movie is ane of the greatest children's movies ever made. It has comedy, beautiful music,a love story and information technology as well teaches a valuable lesson....To always follow your middle and y'all will have your dreams realized. I recommend this movie to anyone who is in the mood for a feel good movie that leaves you with the feeling that you can do anything if yous want it strong enough. I love the songs, I dear the story, I dear information technology all.

A tiny world adventure
Thumbelina is one of the cute fairy tale I take ever seen. I liked all the songs from the movie. Especially, Thumbelina looks super cool in the 'beetle song' with crawly gown. This story is about a daughter, size of a pollex who gets lost in miniature earth and looks for her truthful love,Cornellius, a fairy prince. Thumbelina is at present ane of my favorite movie among other Disney princess movies i accept seen. Surely little kid girls would honey information technology, and then I suggest them to sentinel it.

An OK Adaptation if you expect some flaws
As of 2011, Don Bluth continues to live as one of the best animation directors of all time. The Hugger-mugger of NIMH, An American Tail, The State Before Fourth dimension, and All Dogs Become To Sky were his well-nigh successful films yet and one of the nearly decent movies he has done was "Thumbelina" based on the story by Hans Christian Anderson.
It revolves around Thumbelina, a small person, who meets a fairy prince named Cornelius and have now fall in love. Later, she stumbles upon an chance as lots of furry creatures try to ally Thumbelina.
At present, I haven't read the story or The Piddling Mermaid at all, merely for a animated adaptation, this one is only a decent motion picture.
I'll become for the bad parts: The story line was butchered and underdeveloped it attempts to be a Disney-clone and the characters were also underdeveloped. The dialogue was so lame it makes the characters lose their personalities.
The skilful parts are: The blitheness and fine art design were very colorful and artistic, the songs may not be the best I've heard (specially with Let Me Exist Your Wings and I'll admit it was a "Whole New World" ripoff) but they were OK for the virtually part, the characters were very decent, and the vocalism acting wasn't that bad with the best coming from Jodi Benson.
Thumbelina isn't as good every bit Bluth's successful works and I practice understand the criticism it received, but it's non as terrible as I idea information technology would be. Aye, the story and characters could've been better, but at least the music score makes the picture show kind of watchable and just for niggling kids. So, I'll give this a decent rating.

Wonderful Children's Fairytale
Proceed in mind the comments you read near this movie ARE opinions. Don't base the moving-picture show solely off of those opinions. Rent information technology, and watch it YOURSELF instead of listening to any crock or praise that may exist posted near it here.
PERSONALLY....
I savour the pic very much. I watched it when I was a tiny picayune gremlin, and I nonetheless watch information technology now on occasion. I'thousand fifteen and one of my silly little fetishes are Disney movies. They're Way better than the new ones at whatever rate. (...and cleaner too, heh.) Thumbelina is a wonderful Fairytale with pretty songs and the beautiful voice of Jodi Benson. Fairies, jitterbugs, mice, beetles, fish, frogs, a mole, and a consume... all the tiny things. (With some big animals at the beginning.) I think the principal reason why i similar the picture is the images, the color (especially at the end) is beautiful. The story is a wonderful children's fairytale. I don't know if kid'southward present would bask it or not, because they have all the Pixar stuff, but my five year old sister does enjoy seeing it in one case in a while. I loved it when I was little (and all the same practice).

Wretched kid's movie
Endeavor the following experiment. Search for the words "Ariel" and "Disney" into AltaVista, and encounter how many hits you get; in particular, meet how many hundred pages y'all can notice created by men, and fifty-fifty by women, who are hopelessly in love with the fictional mermaid. -Certain, there are one or two other pages devoted to this or that other blithe heroine, but that'southward just a dutiful follow-on event. The simply animated woman (well, sort of woman) who has this strange Helen-of-Troy event, is Ariel.
There are several reasons: an of import one is the vocalisation creative person, Jodi Benson. She delivers a truly peachy operation, unmatched by anyone in a similar office, which would have fabricated people fall in love with fifty-fifty a shabbily animated stick effigy, which Disney's mermaid, of course, was not. Only the very perfection of her performance prevents its existence repeated. Even Don Bluth ought to have known this. Jodi Benson may never again play the young female atomic number 82 in an animated movie.
That's why information technology'southward so heartbreaking to watch "Thumbelina". (It'due south non why it's so painful - there are other reasons for THAT.) Nosotros reach the low point when Thumbelina's age drops from at least 16 to at nearly ten, after she has been humiliated by a Broadway chorus of insects and plays the children'south morality play part of a kid who needs to exist comforted later on being teased at school. Since it'southward probably illegal to send very young children to cinemas unsupervised, why was this scene included? Worse still, I can't positively swear that this is the depression point. I simply walked out.
My patience had been sorely tried beforehand. The story (or at least, the first 50 minutes of the story) is flabby and unmotivated. The animation is truly bloodcurdling. Some of the insects are drawn in that ugly rubberhose style that Disney had, for the most part, done away with past 1936. The best animation is mildly awkward. The dialogue sounds as if they fabricated it upward equally they went along. Computer effects are both garish and ghastly. We get all of these terrible features in one hit in the first ten minutes: a weakly drawn swallow flies through a lurid purple estimator-generated metropolis to land on a book and begin narrating the story of Thumbelina with words no more imaginative than these: "Theece eez ze story of an eempossible lerv." (Distressing, I tin can't sustain the cheesy emphasis.) "Romeo and Juliet! Ah, an impossible love! Cinderella and the prince! Ah, that was an incommunicable love! Merely the most impossible love of all ..." Oh, delight.

Keen...
You know what? I liked this movie. Its kinda of deadening in parts, and the animation is dated likewise, only the songs really stick. You know how I know? My kids, seven and 12 years old, will watch this moving-picture show over and over when we suspension it out of our DVD rack. They sing the cheery Manilow penned songs and they watch the story unfold each time similar its the first time. (The being deadening part tin be bridged with a cookie or two)...
I like the voice of Thumbalina. She did the voice to the Little Mermaid, so you tin consider this a sequal..sorta...song to heed for? A cute little balad called "Soon"...ane of those 'bring a tear to your centre' songs...
I give this a 7+...instantly forgetable for adults...kids will love it though!!!

A fine adaptation of the Andersen Faery Tale.
One fine affair virtually watching a movie based on a story you know
(when the picture show is faithful to the story) is existence able to know when
something is going to happen before information technology does, just non because
you've seen the movie. When information technology is based on something as short
and elementary as a faery tale, it is fun to come across how the flick deals
with it differently than the original source. This movie has all the
charm and verve of an old-fashioned Broadway show, much of its
charm coming from Manilow's songs. He could take been much
more than appreciated had he been born a few decades before and
worked on Broadway. His songs are pure old-fashioned Broadway, which means they don't usually have likewise much new
significant to them, they are but fun and pretty and very VERY catchy. It is simply when he tries to make a MODERN score and write songs
to be performed like pop-vocal that he becomes pathetic. Sadly,
this leaves him only open up to fine children's movies like these. One
rare happening in adapting stories to movies is that the writers are
able to keep the storyline and add new depth besides information technology to keep the
spirit of the Faery Tale alive, but also for older watchers. For one
affair, give the Prince an earlier meeting with the girl to make it
more complex, (and not have him admit he'southward a Prince at offset
makes it seem honest) and give the Prince a more than rebellious
personality than making him the upper class figure regularly seen
in story books. The animation and much of the song scores aid
brand the scenes touching and funny when they should be. But
once more, the picture's primary stiff bespeak is its score, and the
spectacular bandage of stars (Jodi Benson, Gilbert Gottfreid, Barbara
Cook, Charo, and the spectacular Carol Channing [Hi Dolly
herself!]) and some sadly lesser known celebrities. The simply
complaints to be made are the scripts several weak moments
toward the stop, when the sadness on the hero and heroine's parts
seem a bit overdone, every bit exercise some of the 'heroic' scenes involving
the prince. His heroism gives no feeling that he has achieved
a lot to get his heart'due south desire. But still, this movie manages to bring
out the spirit you tin rarely see in the original story, and if y'all encounter
it just to enjoy information technology, which is what you are meant, you may just be
impressed by what Don Bluth could exercise before he started
completely losing his touch.

Highly recommendable for children, simply not so much for grown-ups
"Thumbelina" is notorious for beingness probably the only animated movie that won or was nominated for a Razzie. While certainly not a great picture, I strongly disagree about the Razzie towards it. If we're talking about animated films that should definitely exist priced with Razzies, then let's have a look at movies similar "Pocahontas ii", "Home on the Range", "101 Dalmatians Two", "Madagascar" "Shrek" trilogy and "Monsters & Inc", for example.
Plenty talking about other movies. Now permit'south talk about what really matters on this review: this one in item.
"Thumbelina" is beautiful and a little too kittenish at the same fourth dimension. For that reason, I recommend it more than for kids than adults. I believe that more likely kids will love it. However, I'm not so sure well-nigh adults. I am a grown up guy now and I admit that I used to like this better when I was younger.
The principal character of the movie, Thumbelina, is a cute and pretty daughter. The idea of Thumbelina being every bit small as a pollex is cute but surreal and too childish at the same time, as well as the idea of her "mother" as a normal human being, which means admittedly gigantic for Thumbelina.
The domestic dog with a mustache is ugly outside, but his dazzler is on the inside. He'southward one of the best characters from this movie. Other dandy characters are Thumbelina, the Prince Cornelius and the french bird Jacquimo.
Simply if there'due south one matter that bugs me near this flick is its unbelievable frogs, besides as the fact that this picture features likewise much bugs, non to mention that Mr. Mole and Mrs. Fieldmouse are boring characters. Also, the songs by the frogs, the bugs and Mrs. Fieldmouse are quite weak. On the other mitt, Jacquimo sings very nice and joyful songs with a french amuse and accent.
The artwork is very good, most at the same level as Disney'southward standards. Only, like I said, too much frogs and bugs kinda ruined this movie for me.
But the worst thing about this movie is the whole matter of a frog and a beetle always chasing Thumbelina. What kind of nonsense is this supposed to exist??

What can I say well-nigh this movie...?
ONE thing y'all tin say about this atrocious, awful movie is that the reviews of it are pure entertainment. This is like i of those vacations where the brochure is more fun than the trip. Maybe that's what Bluth intended considering he knew that every aspect of Thumbelina is totally horrid and only worthwhile as material for creative IMDB users who desire to shoot it downwards. The only adept part of this movie is when John Hurt shows up equally this mole who's so desperate for a spouse that he'due south actually considering Thumbelina. Ever noble, perhaps the greatest humanitarian of our fourth dimension.. Who merely John Hurt would try to aid this wretched flick that is a 76-minute issue of whatsoever extraterrestrial brain-sucking creature got a grip on Don Bluth'southward caput in 1990 and hasn't since let go or stopped feeding? (Though it did vomit in '97 and return to him enough sentience to produce Anastasia.)
This is the WORST. (Except for possibly A Troll in Primal Park, which I haven't seen.) Worse than Rock A Putter and much worse than The Pebble and the Penguin, full of songs I could criticize if only I could remember anything well-nigh them, full of apathetic like the "follow your heart" spiel which is trite here, well subsequently being trite in The Country Earlier Time, and before existence trite in Nimh 2 and Cinderella 2. The plot is incomprehensible all around, following Thum as she dances around with a agglomeration of racially insensitive frogs and then gets involved (somehow) with a lot of insects.. I don't even remember how. Trying to call up the reasons and explanations but they merely aren't coming because nix makes sense in this movie. (Characters announced and and so just exit at random.) Also it'southward BORING. I And then wanted to plough information technology off, and had to force myself to go through the whole thing without hitting the FF button.. (I knew if I touched it even one time, information technology'd be all over.) I can't conceive of whatever reason why ANYone over 2 years old would like this film. The only cute affair in it is the fuzzy bumblebee that Cornelius rides-- nothing else is fifty-fifty remotely interesting or worthwhile. Information technology is Not good for the whole family. I highly do not recommend renting this for a family unit night or a solo nighttime or any dark. Oh and don't be fooled by the trailer, which is highly deceptive as information technology includes the only actually coherent sequence in the whole thing, the role where Thum and Cornelius first meet.
For more intelligent fare, rent any of the Teletubbie adventures and exist awestruck by their sophistication.

Why?
This movie is watered-downward, shallow, and stupid. The plot is all over the identify, and the characters are annoying. I'm pretty sure that all the good reviews come from trolls or children. The animation is so depression-quality that I thought information technology was a lot older before I establish the IMDb page. I don't recommend this slow nonsense. Likewise the songs are bad.

Thumbelina is wonderful
Thumbelina of grade is adapted from the classic Hans Christian Anderson dearest story for children. Children particularly can chronicle to the concept of a tiny person every bit someone they would love and care for. The movie is brilliant and shines every bit a work of art in employing many fine actors' voice talents, forth with a large production team.
Jodi Benson as always is wonderful in her vocalization and singing role, along with Gary Imhoff every bit Cornelius. Charo is entertaining as Ma Toad, and John Hurt is refined equally Mr Mole. Thumbelina is gorgeous and charming in her various outfits and inventive hairstyles. Her innocence and virtuosity adds to her charm. At the beetle ball even dressed as a protrude, if she were a real girl, anyone would fall in dear with her on sight. And the music is exciting, specially through stereo speakers.
Barry Manilow of course has been a world renowned singer/songwriter, and he did no less for this production, peradventure his best efforts still. The romanticism is overwhelming, peradventure overly so. This movie is fantastic for all age groups. The just minor negative points I felt, were beingness also romantic for children (it all centres on romance), Thumbelina marrying at such a immature age, and that the soundtrack as wonderful as information technology is (information technology sounds like something from Fantasyland rather than from World), yet now sounds a bit dated.
Children will still enjoy it today nevertheless, even after many viewings. Forget the ramblings of some gnarly old cynic perhaps biting from some failed past human relationship. Critics raved over it back and so. Do yourself a favour and get it if you lot don't already take it. Your daughters will love you for it.
Regarding the characters, much as in real life, most are flawed and a flake dull-witted. This no doubt is intentional. The swallow is besides delusional and cocky-absorbed. The 'mother' is negligent and incompetent. Cornelius is maybe as a normal lad given a sword to play with, and almost gets himself killed twice. He doesn't need to be a fighting hero nevertheless. That is part of the amuse. He'southward young and small besides.
Regarding her dress, Thumbelina moves with grace, and her dress does the same. Why would she care when she'due south about the only human being her size. The fact that the artists permit it rise at times, is charming and natural. For someone that size, the slightest activity or breeze would cause it, and it'south done with subtlety and finesse. I'one thousand certain boys would exist rivetted with apprehension, and that is probably part of the intent.

my childhood!
this motion-picture show is and then bully!! I dear the animation in it and I honey the songs in it likewise. Jodi Benson is a fantastic voice actress. She is so sweetness and innocent as Thumbelina and y'all want her to meet her true beloved and fall in dearest. The prince in this is so swell too and they accept astonishing chemistry! This is such a sweet and a simple story. I will always love it and it volition always exist a classic to me.

Brilliant.
A few weeks agone, pre-Christmas, I had a sudden urge to sentinel Thumbelina. I can't place where it came from, but it stuck. I have re-watched it a few times now, especially the "Allow Me Be Your Wings" scene. That song, wow, I have hat on my ipod now also. Thumbelina may exist a little poor on the animation side of things in places, and Thumbelina lifts her skirt a piddling high in places (I keep thinking why? why does she do this?) but the characters are lovable and the songs are pure magic. It's scary and abrasive where information technology should be (the beetle, the mole and the toads) and stupidly romantic at the same time. "Allow Me Be Your Wings", "Presently" and the vocal about the sun I forget the proper noun of are all heart-wrenching songs. Don't exist overly critical when watching this pic, or else you are gonna exist missing out. Also, apart from some foreign hair, I am weirdly attracted to Prince Cornelius. The only prince I prefer to him is the one from Sleeping Beauty.
